NO POST-A SUNDAY

Today is suppose to be a sweet Sunday post but I've decided to save that for next week. Sunday is almost over.

The Hubbie was feeling exhausted today so he did not go to church, which is very, very rare. He goes on days when he can barely stand, he goes. This winter has been hard physically on both of us. We have been in all day except for a quick run to Sonic by me for two Chicken Dinners.

So, this post is to say there is not going to be a post. Silly, isn't it? ;)

Free Stuff Fun

I have become an avid coupon clipper. I clipped a coupon for Ruby Tuesday and we used it yesterday to eat out on The Hubbie's day off.

At the bottom of that coupon was a link, www.rubytuesday.com, sign up on So Connected tab at the top of the page. I signed us up. Then, a few hours later, we received another email with a buy one get one free dinner coupon!!!! How great is that, free food?!

An email came from Home Depot, too, another website that I signed up for, to receive their emails. Another buy one get one free offer, a free houseplant! Just below that was a buy one get one free trash bag offer, print the coupon, buy the stuff.

Sure, I know you have to buy something, it's not really free free but you leave with double the stuff for one price. A deal is a deal!

So, I've decided to sign up for more websites. I can always un-sign.

Enjoy Friday and the free stuff that comes with this post!

THINK ABOUT IT FUNNY

This came in an email so it's copied.

I do not have a dog and would never do this to The Hubbie. It came from another dear friend. I just thought it was funny!

The first one is showing the satellite dish hanging by the wire. It's the gray thing just above the trash can.

PICTURE SWEETNESS

Okay, I've standed (spellcheck tricker?) it about as long as I can stand it.

It's been about a week ago. Our oldest Son and our DIL called us on Skype. If you do not have Skype yet, you need to download it quick. It's free, video calls from computer to computer. Both parties must have a computer camera, speakers and Skype.

Anyway, I called The Son for something, don't remember now, what. He said he would Skype us later. We signed on. He and DIL were sitting in front of the computer camera. He picked up the GRAND baby and put him on his lap. The GRAND baby had on a bib, which The Son pulled off from the Velcro attachment. This was the picture:

This was the reaction:

This is a close up of the shirt:

News about a new GRAND baby is hard to top!

FRUIT?

One day last week, we had breakfast for the supper meal. The Hubbie brought home this delicious, cream filled, sprinkle decorated, Krispy Kreme heart shaped treat.

I did not put jelly on my toast, only butter. So, can I count this as a fruit?

Dream on. I ate it anyway and it was melt in my mouth good!

CUT THE FAT CUT THE COST

We are empty nesters nearing retirement, we are downsizing, cutting every thing by 50% or more, groceries, movie rentals, weight loss group, etc. This post is a save money post, save heart and arteries, cut the fat, etc.

This is how I have been cooking ground beef for 30+ years.

Put the meat in a pot and cover with water, boil till meat is brown.

Carefully pour the meat and water into a colander, some call it a strainer, but you can see the picture below. Normally, I let the water go down the drain but saved it for this picture.

Rinse the cooked meat under the faucet with HOT water, not cold because it will make the meat yuck. Rinse the pot with the hot water, too. Put the cooked meat back in the same pan.

Cook the meat a bit longer if you think it might not be completely done.

Add the sauce, plus a can of tomato sauce, this will stretch the sauce and you will only have to buy one bottle of the sauce, which is more expensive. I also put a bit of water in the sauce bottle, swish it around, loosens the sauce on the bottom of the jar and adds a bit of water to the sauce combo.

Start cooking the spaghetti, simmer the sauce, when the pasta is done, strain it, put it back in it's pot, pour the sauce on the pasta while it's still in the pan, stir till pasta is covered with sauce.

This is what you keep out of your body by cooking ground beef my way:

and this:

You can cook ground beef this way for any recipe that requires crumbled ground beef.

I left the bowl on the stove overnight, this is how it looked the next day:

I do not have a disposal so I poured the fat in a plastic bag to dispose of it.

Are we gagging yet?

SNOWING MONDAY

It's snowing on this Monday! The roofs on the houses across the street are white already.

I woke up this morning, snow on the ground, stayed till past nine o'clock. There were flurries in the afternoon followed by heavy snow.

Also heard that the man who invented the hockey graph, showing global warming, has lost his research notes, why?, because he is unorganized. What?

Well, the snow is pretty. Cold, but pretty.

This is a small pond at a horse boarding ranch near the house.....frozen.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

......my card from The Hubbie....For My Wife, My Friend, My Love, I want to thank you for everything you are to me...and let you know that I love the life we share. Happy Valentine's Day....my card to The Hubbie....For the Wonderful Man I Married..In case you were wondering--I notice. I notice how hard you work to make things the best they can be. I notice how much you give, never expecting anything in return. I notice that you never forget to play or laugh or love. And in case you were wondering, I notice how incredible you are at making me feel important and cherished and loved. You're a wonderful husband. Happy Valentine's Day.....(thank you Hallmark and Carlton Cards).

This balloon, too. It's huge and plays the song, How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You, every time you tap it.
It's been a sweet day.

SINGING SATURDAY

Today is Saturday. The sun is shining in Dixie but it's still cold. Nope, we did not get any snow.

I was going to post a song from another site but I thought it would be fun to listen to my playlist. It's at the bottom of this blog.

There is a song that helps my mental attitude. There are romantic love songs, too.

I realized I must be getting really old because Willie Nelson even sounds good in his song.

So, listen, dance if you choose. I enjoy the songs. Maybe you will, too.

EASY VEGGIE SOUP

This veggie soup recipe is delicious. It's all veggies, no meat, and very easy. You do not add salt or any other seasoning because the veggies themselves are the seasoning.

These are the ingredients:

Open the cans, pour into pot, heat till hot and ready to eat, you get several bowls of this:

When veggies are cheaper this Spring, I plan to make it from scratch, only using the tomato with spices to cut back on the sodium. All of these are sold at Kroger on the canned veggie aisle.

Enjoy.

YEP-A YEP-A

I'm back online, successful in switching Internet providers, phone, too.

The modem/router arrived via the big brown truck man. Little did I remember that it was a self install (me) project or a $99 (them) project. Being the cheap empty nester that I am, the attack was on.

The instructions were easy. The pictures were simple. The problem was there was no CD with the delivery. When the tech arrived to confirm the telephone was operational, he had a CD in his truck, which he kindly gave me.

The entire project was to take about an hour. Three hours later, done! I took the time to rewire all of the hardware connected to my eMachine desktop, clean the floor, set up the new hardware. Plus there was the job of un-wiring the cable equipment, from the wall and everything. It was a pile of wires and rented stuff that was returned today when the service was officially canceled after being a customer for 12 years. They should have given us a better deal the first two times we called instead of waiting until we were connected with another company, their loss.

Now, the Internet is faster, cheaper, done. The phone is working, too.

I get a self imposed gold star.

New Camera is a Hummin

My new camera is making a hummin, whining, whistling sound. It's back to WM with it, by George (what does that mean?). Sure it was not that much money but it's my hobby, my fun.

Tomorrow we are switching from cable (104.00 per month) to dsl (59.00 per month with phone, local, long distance). I do not have an idea what the difference in speed will be but shall find out.

If you do not hear from me till Tuesday, know that I am out or order till then.

Then Tuesday, the hummin camera is returned.

It is sweet Sunday so here is a sweet Southern thought, copied from an email sent to me.

Even Southern babies know that "Gimme some sugar" is not a request for the white, granular sweet substance that sits in a pretty little bowl in the middle of the table.

THINK ABOUT IT THURSDAY

The thought for today is how would live if you only had one year to live?

Would you change your way of life, your budget, you attitude?

The truth is, no one even knows if they will have a year, a day, a week, a month.

So, if you have the idea to change your life to a positive rather than a negative, go ahead and do it anyway.

A year from now you may find yourself a much happier person.

AMERICA IS STILL AMERICA

The roofers are back, finishing up, tweaking the job, cleaning up the mess.

So, I am sitting here, blogging, waiting before I start my errands for the week.

I just want to encourage the readers of the this blog, happen stance folks who cross my 'path'.

I still love my Country, The United States of America.

I still honor the great military machine that has kept us free for centuries.

I am thankful that these same men and women who are willing to fight for freedom for the rest of the world, too.

I want to encourage all of us to continue to act like Americans, vote like Americans, BE Americans.

I do not know of another people that are more proud of their heritage, land, life than Americans.

We are proud, strong, individuals, Americans.

I'm blessed to be one and so are you!

OKEE DOKEE ROOFEE ROOFEE

We are getting a new roof today. The roofers are here and boy are they loud. There are ten or so men crawling on top of the house, up the ladder, down the ladder, in the front yard, in the back yard. They're everywhere but why is there a woman with a baby in my front yard?

Yes, they are suppose to all be legal, have SS cards but if you are an adult, born here, grew up here, why can you not speak the language? The 'boss' speaks broken English at best. I asked about it before the job. The company rep assured me they all had the proper cards. I wonder.

Anyhow, last year, our little town had a hail storm. Our neighborhood is all getting new roofs, new roof vents, etc., paid by insurance, which is the right thing.

So, I am sitting here, blogging, watching the Military Channel about World War II, listening to the noise. It is suppose to be finished today. I have taken a few pictures which I will post later.

The sun is shining so it's a good day to get a new roofee.

ME MONDAY

This certain thing on certain days may become very boring, we shall see.

I just wanted to post something about me, on this Monday.

Our last child has moved, in the process of moving 8 hours away.

You fill in the rest.
