IT'S A NO NO

It's Tuesday and time for a tip, this is a weird one.

Never put a Diet Coke in the freezer to chill it because you may just forget it, in fact, I did.

I opened the freezer, above the fridge part, and it had exploded everywhere! There was frozen coke in the ice maker, on the ceiling of the freezer, on the frozen foods, on the seals, everywhere. It was a mess.

So, to save time and the cost of a diet coke, the expense of having the door open, freezing hands, etc., just put ice in a glass and pour the coke in the glass. It's much less of a headache.

DETROIT SHOOTING

This just happened hours ago. A gunman walked into a Detroit Police station, started shooting, killed some, wounded some, the shooter is dead, you figure?!!

For all the idiots in the world, there are five places that you do not walk into and start shooting!

1 - POLICE station, they ALL have guns, they WILL shoot you back.
2 - Military Base, they ALL have guns, they WILL shoot you back.
3 - Harley Motorcycle store, they ALL have guns, they WILL shoot you back.
4 - Gun store, they ALL have guns, they WILL shoot you back.
5 - Texas, they ALL have guns, they WILL shoot you back.

Any other ideas of places not to shoot? Please leave a comment.

OREO STUFFED COOKIE

This is not an original sweet recipe from my collection. It is a new one I saw on Facebook from a friend. I really do not have permission to reprint it so I'm sending the link.

When I read the instructions, look at the pics, my mouth waters. Oh my!

FALL NOT THE SEASON

The Hubbie fell against my car in the garage last night. He was trying to get the big ladder off of the wall when he stumbled and hit the mirror with his back in the kidney area. Doctor today. He is doing better, no broken bones, according to the x-rays, so far.

Always something. It's going to be bad when we get really old. Ugh.

The one thing I did today was take care of him.

REBATE TIP

A good tip for this Tuesday has to do with mail in rebates.

Have you mailed one in only to get a response that you did not qualify because the submission arrived late? I have a couple of times.

Now, I get out of the little silver zoom zoom, walk into the local Post Office with my in envelope rebate form. I ask for date stamped postage. It's the same as a stamp, costs the same but has the date it is mailed directly on it. The worker will print off a white label and stick it to the envelope, wa-la, you're done, for not much more trouble.

If you loose money in a rebate mess up, it's always more than the price of a stamp.

Your rebate return is documented by making a bit of extra effort.

MLK Jr DAY

Today is an official federal holiday for a man that was murdered years ago, I remember that day. It was a sad day, a sad decade for that matter. No matter what, no one deserves to be shot in the head and murdered. The three men I am thinking of are JFK, R?K and MLK Jr, only two were related but all were fathers of young children.

Evil destroyed them all and evil is alive today, still killing, still murdering.

Only when Christ returns to rule and reign will there be peace on earth, good will to men, all men, all women, all children, yellow, red, black and white.

STILL?

Woke up this morning and there is still snow everywhere except where there is concrete, roads, sidewalks, etc. The world is still white.

Well, with the biggest snow in memory, guess it's expected.

Enjoy the cool because it will be July in Dixie soon, very soon. A big snow then would be so refreshing!

THAW

Dixie is on the thaw, today the temps were above freezing, some schools opened, others did not, the sun did shine.

Last night, the TV weather man said it would be the coldest of the season, 9, yep, pretty cold.

DOCTOR

Taking The Hubbie to the Doctor, again. We're at the age where it is always something either him or me, ho hum, comes with so many candles on the old birthday cake.

The snow is finally trying to melt in Dixie, problem is, it freezes at night but tomorrow the temps are suppose to be in the 40s so it will be gone sooner rather than later.

School has been out all week, amazing isn't it? The Hubbie and I were talking, not remembering having so many days off but do remember standing on the corner waiting for the bus with lots more snow on the ground than we have here.

Maybe we were tougher then. Got a walking to school in the snow story yourself? Care to post it?

JIMMY'S BD

Today would have been my little brother's birthday but it isn't. He died on a motorcycle in September of 1981.

The one thing I did today was think of him.

WINTER WONDERLAND

This picture was made of the backyard as it was snowing. Today, there was even more snow in Dixie, wonders never cease.

Here is one thing to think about and consider for your life, a quote from a young woman that we have known since she was a teenager:

"If you don't change the direction you are going you will end up where you are headed."

$2.59 Cleaners

Do you have a dry cleaner in your area that charges $2.59 per item? If you do, you have a great opportunity to save money.

Not only does our local cleaner charge this low rate for each and every item they dry clean but they also run specials.

Today, I took in the very large, king size comforter that my daughter passed to me over the Christmas holidays. On Friday, the cleaner charges $10 to clean any size comforter. Really! It's a deal.

The daughter also brought the accessories to go with the comforter but I am going to use an at home dryer cleaner bag to clean those, saving more cash.

Check it out and see if you have one near by, worth the effort for sure.

MONDAY MONDAY

Look who turned the big 02 today:

The one thing I am doing today is writing down what I eat and drink.

It's part of the new plan for my life. Thanks to dfish and Dinashore for helping me focus.

What changes are you making for this new year, new decade, new start?

Just do one thing, it will matter.

NOW THAT IS HARD

As a Southern gal, born in Mississippi, raised in the South, lived most of her long life in the South, sweet tea is a must have with a meal or any time. Yum, yum, yum. It is something that I cannot control because I love it, the sweeter the better.

Today I said bye bye to sweet tea.

ONE THING EACH DAY

It is here, the brand new year, already, really.

I no longer make resolutions, too many years of doing so, dropping the ball, being frustrated over the failure. Aren't they just made to be broken? Don't know, crazy idea, anyway.

My attitude is changing this year, I'm too old to worry about resolutions. I will accomplish one thing every day this year, some days it will be ordinary things, others, something different.

Today, it will be to start a money jar to save for vacation this summer. Simple enough.
