Lovin on the GRAND baby day

The older you get, the more important the little things in life become.

Today, The Hubbie was off so we took a quick trip North, for the day, to see the GRAND baby. He just makes our day. He's so smart, talking a bunch already and only 16 months old.

Yesterday was a downer. We all have them, don't we?! I am hoping that the news is good but do not know yet, so we're just hoping, praying, that everything will be okay. It's not a health issue, so don't worry.

Back to today, when we arrived at the GRAND baby's house, he was fast asleep, napping. The Hubbie retrieved him from the nursery when he heard him stirring. The GRAND baby woke up smiling. He's such a little doll, we are pro-him, of course.

We are home, tired, relaxing now, watching some TV. It was a wonderful day, a little thing in life, just one day, but so happy for us.

What a difference a day makes.

SAVING MONEY AT ROSS

It's Tuesday today, all day. I like Tuesday. Why, you may ask, of course you do?!

Tuesday is Senior Citizen Discount day at Ross. Ross is one of my favorite stores, even more on Tuesday.

Everyone over 55 gets a 10% off their total purchase.

When I go into a store or restaurant, I ask if there is a Senior Discount? Most of the time there is, so I get it IF it is something I like. Still some are for 65 year old folks, which I am not there yet.

I just think, it's great to have lived this long, stores value their customers, it's a freebie, so enjoy it.

Life is good even way past 40!

WANT TO

Monday, what a beautiful day in Dixie, warming up but beautiful.

What is your motivation in life?

What gets you from point A to point B?

What is important in your life?

What are the reasons for the motivation?

Everyone does what they do for a reason, multiple reasons. The main reason, usually, is because you want to do whatever it is.

We can use a million excuses for what we do or don't do but isn't that the real reason, you want to? I've decided that is my reason, because I want to.

The flip side is because I don't want to, how about you? We do what we want because we want to do it or we don't do what we don't do because we don't want to do it.

Take today to think about life, things that need to be accomplished, make a list if you must, but think about it. It may be just the motivation you need to make a change or two.

After all, as long as we are breathing, no matter our age, we can make changes for the better, or the worse. It's never too late.

DEODORANT 911

Mama said ther'd be days like this, ther'd be days like this my Mama said, Mama, said.

Today is Sunday, my early day of the week. The Hubbie has hurt his back so I had to get up to help put on his socks, shoes, cause he could not bend over.

I took a shower, brushed the teeth, dried the hair, the whole nine yards in an effort to make my big bod presentable. Guess what?

I FORGOT TO PUT ON DEODORANT! OH ME!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only did I go to services, ate lunch at KFC, but stopped in the local funeral home to pay our respects to a dear lady who lost her grown son, her baby. I also went to the grocery store for a few things, including beans for the after funeral dinner.

When I was riding home, I realized I had no deodorant. I am so embarrassed. I came home, removed the stinky articles of clothing, took a second shower, this time, put on double deodorant, as if that is going to make a difference for the sweaty smell I've had today. Blushing, I am.

Are you wondering if you did, too? Sniffing the arm pits are you?

Somethings about getting older are great, some things, like forgetting, not so great.

NOT MUCH

It's Saturday, well, almost over Saturday. Not much has been accomplished this Saturday, laundry, sheets, straightening up the casa, pulled all out of date coupons, stuff.

I'm watching a Lifetime movie, why? Don't know, stupid movie, but it's something to do while folding towels

The weather here is absolutely gorgeous. How about there?

Let me explain something about my little blog. Do you wonder why I write/type like I write/type? I take shortcuts, use commas, fragmented sentences, why?

For fun, to break up the ongoing sensation of going on and on and on. Reading a long blog is very boring, the shorter the better, in my opinion.

So, thanks for reading, for putting up with my commas, shortcuts and fragmented sentences, my blog.

RAINY FRIDAY

It rained just about all day. I love the rain. It gives the earth a bath. Everything seems so fresh after a good slow rain.

Where did the day go? Who knows? I did a bunch of errands, bought two new blouses to match a skirt my daughter bought for $2, new, never worn. Also had my hair cut, like it? Undecided.

Also made a stop at the drugstore to buy tp, on sale. I'm telling you, if someone could come up with a cheap substitute for tp, they would be rich. This stuff is getting too expensive to even buy, but it's a must have, so we buy, picked up a few groceries, too.

Started to try to stick to a food plan, did well till supper then ate some Fudge Oreo cookies, new, with a coupon, that were way too chocolate but I still ate them, what's with that?

Now I am waiting for the chili to cool so I can put it in The Hubbie's lunch sack.

This is my Iris patch. It more than tripled from last year's. Enjoy. God bless and thanks for stopping by my blog.

BACK AND BETTER, TIME FOR AN EZ CRAFT

I am back, I think. What a tough virus this has been. The Hubbie and I were suppose to be in beautiful Destin, FL, this week. This is a view out of the patio (from last year's vacation) door, beautiful, isn't it?!

But we tried twice to head in that direction, both times, had to turn back towards the house because we were too ill to go any further. We are lounging at home, regaining strength, getting stronger. I have been AWOL for that reason but I'm back and I'm better.

This is a craft that I would like to share with my readers. No sewing required. So, gather the things in this picture and watch for instructions on how to make an easy craft for home, office, friend, teacher, neighbor, relative, or you. All of these items can be purchased at the Dollar Tree or the big WM.

Or if you have these items at home, even cheaper.

You need:
1 roll of green floral tape
1 bunch of artifical flowers, any color or a mixture
1 pkg of writing pens
1 pkg of glass stones (optional)
1 container, pictured is a glass bowl, you can use a decorated can or anything handy
scissors
wire cutters

39

39, an odd number, not an even number. Do you wonder what it means? No, it's not a birthday or a pretend birthday, one that you will never go past, always remaining 39.

No, it's the first time in 39 years I have not had a child with me for Mothers Day.

All of my kiddos called me, which is more than some mothers, but it was a hard day. I cried all afternoon.

Some things about being an empty nester are not so fun. Can you relate?

This is definitely a negative post.

SPENDING SAVING

Men and women are different. I don't care how many people think they are the same, nope, no way, not ever gonna believe it.

When I go out and run errands, buy things on sale, clearance, use coupons, etc., I see it as saving money. The Hubbie is a wonderful man but he sees it differently, you're spending money to save money? Wouldn't you have more money if you spent no money? See what I mean. I love the guy.

Today, I went to the local bigger town to pick up a pair of work shoes for him. I think I got the wrong style so will be taking them back. I have taken on all of the going and doing in an effort to relieve his stress, burden. So, I will be going back to the local bigger town to return the shoes for him. I love the guy.

These are a few of the money saving deals I accomplished today:

Family Dollar has toothbrushes on clearance for $.80 each, stocked up I did. Also bought a pump jar of lotion, lavender fragrance only $.90. I bought other things with coupons, too. Yes, Family Dollar takes coupons. There was a clearance basket, picked up a box of mix for sugar cookies, $.80, Dove deodorant was on clearance for $1.25, had a $1 coupon, only $.25 and other things, need to do the math to know how much I really 'saved'. ;)

CVS has Coke products on sale this week 5 for $13, only $2.60 per case, regularly $5.99 for the same case, normally about $30.00 for $13.00. Also pantie liners that were on clearance for $.99, purchased with a $2.00 coupon CVS sent me in the mail, also a rain check for Sweet N Low, BOGO, $2.69 for two.

So, I've saved but spent. It's fun to me, now my part time job, as my DIL mentioned one woman considered it, saving money for her family. I think I like it because I don't pay income or social security taxes in this job, yet. I need to get more focused about it because if I do coupons late at night, I get frustrated and want to quit, too much trouble, but no, it's worth it. Maybe I need to designate Monday as coupon day, separate, cut them all out in one day, done.

Anyway, I am beginning to convince The Hubbie. For instance, I bought over $31.00 of 'stuff' from RiteAid, spending only $1.51.

He likes it, I know he does.

MATERNITY T

Today is Thursday, May 6, 2010, t-shirt Thursday!

The shirt for today is a maternity shirt from Motherhood. No, I did not buy it nor do I need it, duh. I just took several pictures of shirts the store has on sale. Yes, I asked permission and yes I told the woman at the register that I would give credit on my blog.

Cute, don't you think? You do remember that our second GRAND baby is on the way, yep, October 22, 2010, a very good year.

$1

I absolutely love a bargain. Part of the thrill is the hunt, you know. Several days ago I stopped in at the local Habitat for Humanity Store. It is a store that has everything from used building supplies to musical organs to mirrors to used furniture. People donate things, the things are sold and the money goes towards Habitat for Humanity. Some things are just junk. Other things are leftovers from projects that builders cannot use and donate.

I found this for only $1, American. I thought it was worth the price and is my money saving hint for today, Tuesday, May 4, 2010.

Since I am continuing to downsize my junk, I was surprised I bought it but it looks great on the front porch and, hey, you can't make it for that, my life verse when it comes to spending money.

NOT ME

Monday is usually the day I blog about something personal, other than the GRAND baby, of course. Today, I am thinking about the people of New York City.

In case you have not heard, a car bomb was set in the middle of Times Square. The car was left running, keys in the ignition, locked doors. Due to the quick thinking of two street vendors, the police were notified and the area evacuated as much as possible. Thankfully, the bomb did not work, go off, it failed. Praise the Lord! Lives were saved.

The pictures of the bomb are very scary. The big SUV is packed with explosive materials. Because the thing failed, only smoking, there is a treasure of evidence in this SUV. This should lead to the arrest of the people responsible for this attempted murder of the people of the city yet again.
Personally, I think the city of New York will be a target forever. It is an easy target. There are millions of people in a small spans of land. Any damage there would be huge, it's what 'they' want, massive murders.

But, for today, we are thankful that the people there are safe.

This time.
