BYE BYE 2015

Oh my, tis true!  This year is over, finished, done.  Sigh.  I look at it in two ways.

1 - HALLELUJAH!  What a year.  When I told my heart doctor what was going on in my life because he asked.  He sat there, sweet man that he is, shaking his head.  He then said, I will not complain for at least three years!  Still shaking head.  My family and I will put your family in our prayers.  Bless him!  I needed that day.

2- UHOH.  So it is over but what about next year?  All we can do is take it as it comes.  We cannot change the past.  We cannot change too much about today.  We cannot change the future.  Just take it as it comes.  Trust God.  Lean on Him.  Fight for life.  Change what can be changed.  Move forward.

I am starting the year with a happy attitude.

Happy that.......

we are all still breathing......

the younger son has a wife who fits well with our craziness......

the Hubbie still has a job and his heart is now considered to be normal......

mine, too, after a stress test yesterday.....

the Older son is stable AND loosing weight....

the Daughter is feeling better AND loosing weight.....

the grands have a puppy.....Ferris and Savannah.....

we are all still breathing.

Nothing negative about this last post for the year 2015.  I could print an entire page of boo-s but nope.

Bless you all.  Protect your family.  Take life as it comes and try not to worry about the things out of your control.

Happy New Year from Carol of Life in Bunny Slippers blog.  Starting 2016 with a smile and a new pair of walking shoes in hot pink, of course.

MONEY SAVING TIP.....EATING

Yes, eating out is so much nicer than cooking, ever.  After 48 years of cooking, only when I must, I would really like to retire completely from the old grind of a hot stove.

But, since the two of us, must eat, here are a few tips that could save you some money as it does us.

Tonight we ate at Zaxby's, yum.  There is a 25th Anniversary celebration.  A meal that comes with four chicken strips, fries, toast and a large drink for $7.97.  We split one.  Yep, we both ate half.  I tore the bread in half, gave the Hubbie two strips and we both munched on the fries.  The fries were not that good, frozen, yes, old tasting.  Still we had just enough food to satisfy our need to eat.  So, we both ate for $3.95 each.  Cha-ching!  Plus a refill drink to go.

I love shopping at Publix.  It has the best BOGO deals every week.

Recently there was a BOGO for Marie Callender's frozen dinners.  I tried the Lasagna.  It is really good.  Yes, the Hubbie even liked it saying we could have it any time!  The cost was 2 for $5.00, buying only one made it $2.50.  We both ate for $1.25.  Yes, heating the oven was necessary.  Yes, water and a drink were required.  Cheap somehow eases the pain of all the work.  Big grin.

One more thing and I'm done with this post.

We love eating at Longhorn's  Steakhouse.  It is a bit expensive for our budget so we save it for special occasions.  It was our 48th anniversary.  We went to the beach for a trip.  We ate at LS.  We both ordered steak.  Mine was to be medium well done.  His was to be medium.  Well, the meat was cooked as ordered but mine was medium and his was medium well done.  I mentioned it to the waitress when she asked.  She offered to fix it.  I told her no.  The Hubbie said we just want to eat and not wait.  We laughed.

The check came.  The manager took care of it and even offered dessert!  We did leave the waitress a  tip.  But we both ate for $6.00, which was the tip on a $30.00 tab.  What great customer service!  The manager apologized over and over.  I told him it wasn't his fault.  Just a mix up.  It happens.   I thanked him and declined the sweet.

Did I mention we love eating at Longhorn?

SANITY SAVING TIP

Well, that's a switch, right?   In a round about way, it is also a money saving tip.  Saving time is money, or so some say.

I've found something that helps me keep my sanity.  It's journaling.  Yes, I know it can be done on the old smart phone, which I do.  But, I also like having a hard copy.

It is a take off on bullet journaling.  You can google it and go from there.  I made it my own.  One way was a cheap-o ring binder.  Yes, from WM for less than a dollar.  See, money saving tip.

One thing I do is keep it in my purse and do it all in pencil.  It is easy to erase.  Yes, of course.  If it can be erased, it saves pages used.  Maybe I will picture it.  Not sure how I would hide my details.  Maybe I should just write out a page and leave it blank.

Thinking about it........

I am organized now and it is so much better than a bunch of  post notes.  It does indeed save the sanity.  Although I do use post notes in my journal/planner.  Finished with it, toss it.  Nice.

MONEY SAVING TIP......LUNCH FOR $1.09 CASH

Eating out can be expensive.  It can also be cheap.  This money saving tip is about eating out cheap.

There are several websites that I have signed up for over the years.  One of them is for Steak n Shake.  Yum.  I received an email it was my one year 'anniversary' being a member of that website.

What did I get for my gift?

Free food.

I received a coupon for one double steak burger with cheese, which I never eat because it is usually extra, the cheese that is.  Plus an order of French fries.  The trick was you had to use the coupon for a dine in meal.  No problem.  I can do it.  So, in the rain, I waddled into the local franchise.

Several times over the years I have purchased a large sweet tea, easy ice, from this restaurant.  Why?  It is only $1.  Yes, it is what I picked today, too.

My tab totaled up to be $1.09 for a nice lunch.

Yes, I left a $1 tip, too.

Technically, I ate for $2.09 but the food cost was ONLY $1.09, for the tea.

There are pictures to prove it but the pictures are yet to be downloaded from my phone.   It will happen.

Later.....take my word for it....grin.

Hint:  even if you drive thru, between the hours of 2 PM and 4 PM, as well as 2 AM and 4 AM, a very large sweet or unsweet tea is ONLY $.55.  In fact, ALL of their drinks are half price including milk shakes.  fyi
