COFFEE CASH

Do you like flavored coffee? The Hubbie does, French Vanilla. I do, too, some. If we make a pot of FV it is so rich, tastes like candy, of course add the milk and (cough) sugar! A small can of FV costs more per ounce than a large can of plain old coffee, much much more if you get plain coffee as the one cent item at Publix. I digress, as usual.

Here's a money saving hint:

If you use 3 scoops of coffee to make a small pot, use 1 scoop of the flavored stuff, like FV, to 2 scoops of the regular stuff. You will get a good taste of the more expensive stuff and stretch it with the cheaper stuff.

Think I'll go make a pot because it is cold in Dixie!

It's all about saving money, honey!

ME MONDAY

Isn't it silly to post something on your own blog about your own self? No.

It's cold in Dixie, we have our heat set at 60 degrees and we are living in sweats, flannel pjs and socks, slippers, whatever. True, it is cold in the house but we are sleeping better plus saving money. What's a stuffy nose between friends?

Interesting the cuts one can make when times get a bit desperate. Isn't there an old saying desperate times call for desperate measures? Did I just imagine it?

Any who, yeah, who....life can be what you make it, supposing, I am. Rambling on in this post, too.

Wondering what I would have done different, sitting here, life having passed us in many ways, still wondering. No sense in that, life is life and there are no do overs. Refusing to live life in the 'it could be worst' mode.

Best thing now is to look at the present and try not to fear the future.

A friend on Facebook posted this and I'm borrowing it from her w/o her permission, don't think she reads this blog so here it is:

When everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

We're okay, just stalled. How about you? Maybe we all need to learn how to play in the waterfall of life?!

TIP TIP

The tip for today is BUY a carpet shampoo machine. It will pay for itself with one good whole house carpet cleaning. We have an older model, the newer ones are even better. Watch for sales to save paying full price. Save up and pay cash, please. ANYTHING you pay interest on costs YOU YOU YOU more!!!!!!!!

Also, if it's raining outside, take your shoes off at the door, don't walk on the carpet. Turn the shoes sole side up (after you take them off your feet) to dry before putting away or wearing again.

SAVING TIP

Here's a tip that can save you money! Do you use Breathe Right Strips at night while you sleep? I do. I have sleep apnea but never adjusted to the machine. So, although the strips do not do the same as the machine, a strip does help open the breathing capabilities.

Normally, the strips cost about $12, much less with coupons, and there are 26 to 30 strips per box, depending on the size of the strip itself.

The tip is to cut the strip in half length-wise. You will have two strips! The half strip works just as well for me as the full size double strip, plus is easier to remove in the morning! Turn the half strip downward.

I do take the time to hold the half strip in place on my nose so it will hold better. The 'glue' seems to set better when it has body heat for a few seconds from the hand and the nose.

So, instead of 26 or 30 strips, you have 52 or 60 strips!!!

My idea for living now-a-days is to cut expenses by 50% or use of an item doubled. This tip works for me, try it, if you like.

HUH?

What day is it? Oh my. Must be Monday. Yeah, think that's right. Yeah, it's right. I checked the calendar.

Today I'm headed to the chiro for yet another adjustment. So thankful that his office is less than one mile away.

Here's a thought, copied from the WWW, nice having a world of info at your fingertips, don't you agree?:

MONEY MONEY

As my readers know, we are in the ongoing process of living semi-retired which means on Social Security, semi surviving, ha, no, it's not that bad...okay...it is but we have a bit extra coming in now so we are breathing again. However, I am constantly looking for new ways to cut the expenses.

Here are a few more we have incorporated:

DO buy Smarties and not chocolate....I was at the drugstore, purchasing Halloweenee candy, picked out two bags that were bogo half off, still the two together would have been over $9.00!!...after thinking about it, I put them back and went for one bag of Smarties for $3.99 with 60 in a bag...there were leftovers and are now being saved for the GRAND son.

DO NOT buy refreshments on an outing....if you go to movies, ball games or other events, you know the refreshments can cost an arm and a leg....bring your own and don't buy their stuff....keep your arm and your leg.

DO NOT turn on the heat until Novemeber 1....or there abouts...our heat is still off and may try to make it to 59 degrees inside....all bets are off if the GRANDS come for a visit.

DO find out peak hours for utilities rates...in the process of this one...apparently it may be cheaper to run the household electricity during day time over night time. I will research and report.

DO attend a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University class...it makes a big difference!

IT'S NOVEMBER ALREADY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
