FUNNY FRIDAY

Bubba and Johnny Ray were sittin' on the front porch.

Drinking beer when a large truck hauling rolls and rolls of sod went by.

"I'm gonna do dat when I win the lottery," said Bubba.

"Do what?" asked Johnny Ray.

"Send my grass out to be mowed."

$44.50

Yesterday, I made a trip to the Big WM to see what I could find.

Sunday, a very nice lady named Barbara, gave me several (6) coupons for Cover Girl products worth $8 on two products. I also needed Breathe Right strips for my stuffy night nose. I saved one to take to Dollar General because the Big WM was limited in their selections.

The results....drum roll, please....did not spend $44.50....
with coupons,
overages,
the total I did spend.......

$3.47!!!!!!!

The haul....
1 box Breathe Right Clear for Sensitive Skin 30 strips
3 packs of UP2U Gum
6 Cover Girl Eye Shadows various and beautiful colors
2 Cover Girl Blush
2 Two pack Cover Girl Eye Brow Pencils with sharpener

The tip for today.....share your coupons. Don't trash them. You're throwing money in the garbage! Pass the paper bag, I can't breathe.....

IF you have extra, swap with a friend, like Barbara!

Last night, I was ahead of a man in line. I saw he had several items in his cart that I had coupons for so I quickly handed over what I could as his bill was totaled.

I've done this many times. Yes, I am nosey to look in other people's carts but only one time has a coupon been refused by a stranger. Most are thrilled to save whatever they can.

I am thrilled to help.

FUN FRIDAY

Okay, so another week is gone! Soon we will be saying where did that year go?

Friday use to be the favorite day of the week for me. It was my fun day. I switched it to Thursday because of crowds and traffic. It's easier to get in and out of every where on Thursday now. But, Thursday seems to come and go so fast with no fun accomplished!

Today, I am washing stored away winter clothes. The summer clothes are all boxed up, well, at least the ones I am going to keep.

In an effort to downscale clothes I don't wear, I'm donating the clothes I do not wear each season.

Why did I side track with that statement?

Oh well, have a fun Friday.

Plus we were thrilled she was a GIRL! There are few girls on either side of our families so a girl was a thrill!

ADORABLE MONEY SAVING TIP

Amazingly, it's Tuesday again, already, and time for a money saving tip. This tip is simply adorable. No, it's not a picture of our GRAND daughter, who, by the way turned one on Saturday. I'll post a picture of that later.

This tip is about an adorable website I found the other night. When I surf the web, I find such cute things for children, mostly girls, but the majority of the site products are way to expensive. Not so with this website. Check it out.

www.alwaysunderpay.com

(not a live link so copy and paste, please; yes, permission was given by Jenna)

The address of the site, I loved immediately!! It shouts BARGAIN but the products look so high end! Look at this picture:

It is a sampling of the product this site sells. Isn't it just precious?!

Please spend a few minutes scrolling through the products on this site. The prices are great and the selection is very nice. The tutus are so girly and even if you did sew, you could not buy the fabric for what an already made tutu costs on the website!

Christmas is right around the corner, how can we not know that one? Maybe it's time to start your shopping on....

Hummm....wonder if these come in my size......

SAVING ON THE WEB

It's Tuesday and this is suppose to be the day a post is made about saving money. This one is pretty easy.

Surf the web!

Search for topics such as:

living on twenty thousand dollars a year
living on social security
frugal living
living on a shoe string
budget living
living on little money

You get the idea. It's easy but it can also be a bit depressing, vertically flatened even. Why? Because so many are things we have done for all of our married life.

Still, even a hint or two can make a big difference in the old wallet!

139

Yesterday at our church, we all celebrated the Church's 139 year! Yep, that's right. The Church was started by two men who wanted to teach children about the Word of God. The little class started in a log cabin and grew into our current assembly. Throughout the years, the church has faced many problems but has always been sustained to keep going, even growing. The church is located on the same property where it began although it is very different today.

Think back through history and try to remeber a few things that happened in 139 years! Flight by man became common place. Man walked on the moon. There were several wars, including World Wars. Presidents died, naturally and otherwise. Women and others won the right to vote. You could go on and on, couldn't you?! Yes, quite astounding.

We are thankful to be associated with this group of believers. It's wonderful to have a supportive group that you can fellowship with, laugh, cry, pray. Our Pastor and his family are so dedicated. We are blessed.

DOUGH SAVING

There are ways to save money without acutally using money, you know.

A few of the things I am doing are:

Using lightweight towels so they will dry faster, using less electricity, saving the plush ones for company.

Using the same towel more than once. Does that sound yuck? Well, use the towel to dry your body and a small hand towel or washcloth to dry the yucky places, feet, pits, etc.

Found a chemical free water bottle at RiteAid for 75% off so bought it to use instead of bottled water. I don't like the water here. When we first moved it was so good then a new housing neighborhood went in near us and the water changed. Now its ugh. I may have to season it with something.

We have started using the Dave Ramsey envelope system based on Social Security income only. We are just about making it and will do fine when The Hubbie has a job so that's exciting! It's not as bad as we thought. Sadly, we will not be traveling like I had hoped at this age, at least we're still breathing.

Fall is here and I wanted a pumpkin for the front porch. I made two fabric ones instead of buying a real one, only to have it rot. Yeah, they look more like tomatoes but I can pretend they are pumpkins.

Try having one day, or more, a week when you spend NO money, that's right, zero, none, to save money, don't spend it.

So, that's it. Have a great Tuesday!

MONDAY MONDAY

Many years ago, there was a singing group called the Mamas and the Papas. It had two women and two men. One of their popular songs was Monday, Monday. Although I don't remember all the words, it went something like this:

Monday, Monday, can't help that day. Monday, Monday, it just turns out that way.

Honestly I never really understood it. Unless it meant that Monday means the grind starts all over again. I should google the song and read the rest of the words to find out, I reckon.

But now, I enjoy Monday days. It's the beginning of a new week for me and The Hubbie. Whereas Sunday has always been the end of a week in my mind. I know it's just terminology but it's the way it was and is.

So, it's Monday again and the weather is absolutely beautiful in Dixie! Yeah, I'm braggin'.

This morning I opened the back door and let the sunshine in and enjoyed the cool breeze. Although I really need to get a screen door, I still open the door just about every morning and leave it open while preping my breakfast. It's a beautiful day so we're enjoying it. One day at a time.
