MONEY SAVING TIP.....EATING

Yes, eating out is so much nicer than cooking, ever.  After 48 years of cooking, only when I must, I would really like to retire completely from the old grind of a hot stove.

But, since the two of us, must eat, here are a few tips that could save you some money as it does us.

Tonight we ate at Zaxby's, yum.  There is a 25th Anniversary celebration.  A meal that comes with four chicken strips, fries, toast and a large drink for $7.97.  We split one.  Yep, we both ate half.  I tore the bread in half, gave the Hubbie two strips and we both munched on the fries.  The fries were not that good, frozen, yes, old tasting.  Still we had just enough food to satisfy our need to eat.  So, we both ate for $3.95 each.  Cha-ching!  Plus a refill drink to go.

I love shopping at Publix.  It has the best BOGO deals every week.

Recently there was a BOGO for Marie Callender's frozen dinners.  I tried the Lasagna.  It is really good.  Yes, the Hubbie even liked it saying we could have it any time!  The cost was 2 for $5.00, buying only one made it $2.50.  We both ate for $1.25.  Yes, heating the oven was necessary.  Yes, water and a drink were required.  Cheap somehow eases the pain of all the work.  Big grin.

One more thing and I'm done with this post.

We love eating at Longhorn's  Steakhouse.  It is a bit expensive for our budget so we save it for special occasions.  It was our 48th anniversary.  We went to the beach for a trip.  We ate at LS.  We both ordered steak.  Mine was to be medium well done.  His was to be medium.  Well, the meat was cooked as ordered but mine was medium and his was medium well done.  I mentioned it to the waitress when she asked.  She offered to fix it.  I told her no.  The Hubbie said we just want to eat and not wait.  We laughed.

The check came.  The manager took care of it and even offered dessert!  We did leave the waitress a  tip.  But we both ate for $6.00, which was the tip on a $30.00 tab.  What great customer service!  The manager apologized over and over.  I told him it wasn't his fault.  Just a mix up.  It happens.   I thanked him and declined the sweet.

Did I mention we love eating at Longhorn?
