Well one holiday down and a couple to go

This year has evaporated. Now, the holidays are blinking by too fast.

All these time saving devices and no time saved.

Time is going by too fast.

When I was a kid, to stop my little red wagon from going, I would stick my foot out and drag the ground. It's a trick only little kids can do. Obviously.

*********UPDATE....11/15/2009....What happened with this? It looks like I quit in mid thought. I might have. I meant to say I wish I could slow down time like I did that little red wagon. Oh well, it's a year later and this post is done. Laughing.

Have you noticed how short the bogs were when I started and how long they are a year later? No comment, please. Ramble ramble ramble. Enjoying it myself.

Christmas Time

Silent Scream

Recently, my oldest son and I were discussing different things. The subject of abortion came up.

He asked if I had seen the ultrasound made in the 70s or 80s of an actual abortion.

No.

He then went on to tell me what it is.

There is an actual baby in his Mother's womb, kicking, moving, living. Then the instrument shows up on the screen. The 'doctor' grabs the little leg with the instrument and begins to pull.

On the ultrasound you can actually see the harmless little BABY open it's mouth and SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!

It is being dissected alive.

Why?

Inconvenience? Ignorance? Apathy? Money?

Murder.

How can a mother kill her own baby?

Just the thought of little babies all over the world being killed is very very hard for me to handle.

Some day 'they' will all be held responsible for such terrible acts. Not by me or by man.

Some day.

Tears for all the lost little ones.

Happy Thanksgiving.....oooopss...its over

So many of the holidays are now all about going, doing, buying, getting.

Thanksgiving is still a family holiday. It's the time that I am looking forward to more each year, even more than Christmas. Especially this year since this is the least ready that I have been for Christmas in years and years!

But, it will come, the kids will come, we will eat, laugh, open gifts and enjoy being together in spite of the craziness of our lives.

So, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone everywhere that celebrate this American holiday.

Take a deep breath. Enjoy Thanksgiving.

December is the craziest month of the year.

Got Cold?

VICKS VAPOR RUB

During a lecture on Essential Oils, they told

us how the foot soles can absorb oils.

Their example: Put garlic on your feet and

within 20 minutes you can 'taste' it.

Some of us have used Vicks Vapor rub for years

for everything from chapped lips to sore toes

and many body parts in between.

But I've never heard of this.

And don't laugh, it works 100% of the time,

although the scientists who discovered it

aren't sure why.

To stop night time coughing in a child

(or adult as we found out personally),

put Vicks Vapor rub generously on the bottom

of the feet at bedtime,

then cover with socks.

Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing

will stop in about 5 minutes and stay stopped

for many, many hours of relief.

Works 100% of the time and is more effective

in children than even very strong prescription

cough medicines.

In addition it is extremely soothing and

comforting and they will sleep soundly.

Just happened to tune in A.M. Radio and picked

up this guy talking about why cough medicines

in kids often do more harm than good,

due to the chemical makeup of these strong

drugs so, I listened.

It was a surprise finding and found to be

more effective than prescribed medicines

for children at bedtime, in addition to have

a soothing and calming effect on sick children

who then went on to sleep soundly.

My wife tried it on herself when she had a

very deep constant and persistent cough a few

weeks ago and it worked 100%!

She said that it felt like a warm blanket had

enveloped her, coughing stopped in a few

minutes and believe me, this was a deep,

( incredibly annoying!) every few seconds

uncontrollable cough, and she slept cough-free

for hours every night that she used it.

If you have grandchildren, pass this on.

If you end up sick, try it yourself and you

will be absolutely amazed at how it works.

DON'T SHUN THIS ONE..

TRY IT THE NEXT TIME YOU GET A BAD COLD

Cheap paper plates

Another way that I cut our living costs is to buy and use cheap white paper plates. They are microwave safe which the foam type plates are not.

The cheap white paper plates are placed in plastic paper plate holders which can be purchased at a dollar store.

Something worth doing

When doing your Christmas cards this year, take one card and send it to this address. If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these wonderful special people who have sacrificed so much would get.

When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, please
include the following:

A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center

This came in an email to me today....passing it on.

1.69

Gasoline is down to $1.69 per gallon of regular. Why did it go up to $4+??? We can only speculate.

Here is another money saver hint.

Use plastic grocery bags for packing merchandise to mail.

Recently my camera quit working. I called the 800 customer service number. The agent told me to ship it back for repair.

I did not have bubble wrap so I took 20+ plastic bags, put the camera in bag one, continuing into each bag before putting the item into a sturdy cardboard box.

My fine camera arrived and was returned without any problems.

Life

Life begins, life ends. Today I realized that my parents, if alive today, would be great grandparents upon the arrival of our first grandchild in several weeks.

Sadly, they have been gone for 29 and 21 years.

Life continues.

Shocking.

Money Saver

Here is another small hint to make what you buy stretch.

My hubbie loves the chocolate chip muffins from Martha White. I put two in his lunch each day for his morning break.

I've found that I can use less milk and a bit of water to the milk to make the 1/2 cup needed for one package of muffin mix. Since we use 2% milk, it saves on fat and calories. Adding a bit of water cuts down on fat and calories, too.

Money Tip

Isn't this an interesting economy? It brings back memories of the 1970s!! I have retro-ed to some of the things I did to save money then and started using them today.

You've heard of things like make a grocery list and stick to it, etc. But my focus is making what I do buy s-t-r-e-t-c-h.

One tip...when using dryer sheets, use more than one load. I reuse them over and over until there is no product on the sheet itself. You can put more than one gently used dryer in with towels, etc.

Just because it's been thru the dryer one time doesn't mean it will not work in a second load, etc.

It's happening

http://www.eyeblast.tv/public/video.aspx?v=e46UZuaGSU

Friday Already

It has been one year now. Novemeber 13, 2007, I was working and was injured on the job. It was at a large discount store, not Kmart, not Target, you guess. The store personnel responsible have been silent to me.

I injured my jaw, shoulder, which required surgery, my back in three places. These are the problems I am having one year later. At the beginning, there was more pain than one person could handle.

The surgery was rotator cuff repair. The muscles tore and slipped over the top of the shoulder joint. The surgery procedure was to pull the muscles down, tack together, then into the shoulder/arm bone. The pain was so intense I wanted to die.

I am not a whimp when it comes to pain. I had an emergency c-sect and was only given Tylenol 3 because I was breastfeeding my new baby. True, it was horrible but I made it.

Depression has followed. Realizing that I have permanent physical pain. I will no longer be able to do the work that I have done in the past.

Nightmare.

Fudge Pie

This is my favorite pie recipe.

Easy Fudge Pie

1 stick of margarine or butter
1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup cocoa
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 9" pie crust (not deep dish)

Defrost frozen pie crust, prick with fork.

Melt butter, stir in remaining ingredients, stir until well blended, pour into pie crust.

Bake 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Pie will become firm as it cools. Crust will cook to golden brown edges.

The pie is delicious even after chilled in the frig.

What will this blog be to me?

The blog world is big! Folks use it to post recipes, sell things, keep up with others, find new connections.

I am wondering just what my blog will be to me. Will I use it to journal? Will I use it to work thru pain in my life? Will I use it as an emotional escape from reality?

Whatever, however, it happens, it will be an interesting adventure.

All aboard....toot toot.

To Do List a week long....

Do you have children and a daily list of to do items is a joke? They have noses to be wiped, mouths to be fed, rocking and cuddling to be done.

Make the to do list for a week.

#1 - most important thing that must get done by Saturday
#2 - next most important thing that must be done by Saturday

You get the picture.

You make lists of gift to buy for Christmas, rooms to clean, clothes to be patched, all with a #1 must do, #2 must do.

It works.

To keep yourself going, put all of your lists in one spiral bound notebook and keep the crossed out items/pages all together. It will motivate you to keep moving forward by seeing the things you've already completed.

When the notebook is full and scratched out, toss, or file it.

Monday Monday

At what age do we discover time whizzing by way too fast?

15, 18, 21, 30, 40, 50, + ?

True, we all have only 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but somehow that does not seem like enough on most days.

How are you living? Is your life stressed, depressed, or just out of control?

The easiest way for me to handle things and actually get things accomplished is to keep the list I call....

"My List for the Day that Absolutely Must Get Done Today"

I start out with the #1 most important item that must get done today.
When this is finished, I mark it off my list.
Then, I move to the #2 most important item that must get done today.
When this is finished, I mark it off my list.
Then, I move to the #3 most important item that must get done today.
When this is finished, I mark it off my list.

So on and so forth. You get the picture.

I list ten things for the day. True, rarely do all ten get done but the most important items that must get done today are done. There will be more things on your list but you move them to the next day and start with the last completed item as the #1 most important item that must get done today.

Try it. I think you will be pleasantly surprised to see how much you actually did get done rather than drifting from one unfinished project to the other. It will also help eliminate many undone projects.
